Julie graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1990, and has a wealth of experience and knowledge after working in small and mixed practices as well as for DEFRA, before starting up the Practice in Rocester in 1994 under her maiden name of Julie Hims.
Over the years many clients have become long standing loyal friends, trusting her with the care of their beloved pets. Julie still maintains a tremendous enthusiasm for current topics and is always seeking to provide the highest standard of care, keeping up to date with the most recent medical advances. Julie’s particular interests are small animal internal medicine and surgery and Small Animal reproduction and breeding.
Away from work Julie has a family with two teenage children. Her home is full of pets including four rescue cats , including her very own Tom Cruise and Monique, who brought a litter of kittens with her. There is also, of course, the wonderful Barbara, a cheeky Wire Hair Fox Terrier, who frequently makes an appearance at the Vets.
Flat coats have been a part of her life for over 20 years. And the adorable Truman, who is an occasional blood donor at the Practice, was joined this December, 2014, by a new flat coated retriever from Flat Coat Rescue, called Yogi.
Most weekends Julie enjoys inviting friends for Dinner and long dog walks. She enjoys taking Barbara to Coastal Devon and alpine skiing when the chance arises.
Julie has also set up ‘BreedMyDog’ branch of the practice providing a complete breeding and artificial insemination service. For more details go to www.breedmydog.co.uk
